Permanent WIP

A Design II project from last semester. I built the base out of 3/4" plywood that I cut myself. The hands are plaster casts of my hands knitting. The blue sleeves were from an old Target sweater that I had on hand that had a hole in it. I knit the scarf out of lace weight yarn. The pattern is called "Wisp" and it can be found on knitty.com. The sculpture is covered in images that are meaningful to me. The project was to make a 3-D psychological self-portrait. The images range from vintage knitting and navy ads, pictures of places I've lived and visited, to some personal family photos and one of the better ultrasound pics that we got of Sofia If you look at it from the side it's supposed to be reminiscent of a person sitting in a chair, relating it back to the human figure.
